The Salar Jung Museum in Hyderabad houses a remarkable collection of art and antiques from India, Europe, Asia, and the Far East. Most of its treasures were collected over forty years by Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, Salar Jung III, former Prime Minister of the Nizam VII. Today, the Museum has 40 galleries across Indian, Western, and Eastern blocks, showcasing rare objects of global origin. Its Library holds manuscripts and books in multiple languages, along with calligraphic panels.
Museum is currently inviting applications for its comprehensive Internship Programme, aimed at students and art enthusiasts interested in museum studies. This prestigious institution houses a global collection of art and antiques across 40 galleries, primarily gathered by Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan.
Eligibility and Disciplines
The program is open to graduate and postgraduate students specializing in the following fields:
Arts and Fine Arts
History and Museology
Conservation and Library Science
MCA and English
Related disciplines or museum outreach activities
Programme Details
Duration: The internship lasts between 3 to 6 months.
Stipend: Postgraduate interns are eligible for a monthly stipend of ₹5,000/- upon the approval of monthly reports. Graduate interns will receive a certificate upon successful completion.
Working Hours: Interns are required to be present from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday to Thursday.
Responsibilities: Tasks involve museum operations, collections management, curation, documentation, and public relations. Interns must submit a final report and presentation at the end of their tenure.
Application Requirements Candidates must provide a Statement of Purpose (SOP) and a brief bio identifying their specific area of interest. The application form must be countersigned and bear the seal of the Head of the Institution where the applicant is currently studying. Additional required documents include:
A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
A cover letter and a recent passport-size photograph.
Copies of degree or provisional certificates.
A portfolio or sample work, if applicable.
Selection Process Applications will be scrutinized by a committee based on academic merit and the relevance of the candidate's background. Shortlisted individuals will be invited for an interview with the Director or Curator Team.
