The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), operating under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, has announced the recruitment for multiple project positions.

Applications are currently being invited from interested and eligible candidates for roles within the project titled "Documentation of Traditional Knowledge in Wildlife Conservation".

The ZSI seeks to fill a total of nine temporary positions, including three posts for Senior Project Associate and six posts for Project Associate–II. These engagements are purely temporary and are scheduled for a duration of 22 months or until the project is completed, whichever comes first. The selected candidates will be liable to be posted at ZSI Headquarters in Kolkata.

Educational Qualification (Natural Sciences)

M.Sc. in Natural Sciences (Zoology/Wildlife Science/ Ecology/ Life Sciences/ Anthropology) AND Four years of research experience (after Master’s degree) OR Doctoral Degree in the above subjects

M.Sc. in Natural Sciences (Zoology/Wildlife Science/ Ecology/ Life Sciences/ Biodiversity and Conservation/Anthropology) AND Two years of research experience (after Master’s degree)

Required Fitness: Candidates must be physically fit for extensive travel across the country, including remote locations and difficult terrain, and may require prolonged stays in the field

Educational Qualification (Arts/Humanities)

M.A. in Arts (Anthropology/ Archeology/Social Sciences, History/ Economics/ Philosophy) AND Four years of research experience OR Doctoral Degree in the above subjects

M.A. in Arts (Anthropology/ Archeology/Social Sciences, History/ Economics/ Philosophy/ Studies in Sanātana Dharma/ World Literature/ English/ Sanskrit etc.) AND Two years of research experience

The completed application, along with a 'No Objection Certificate' from the present employer (if applicable), must be submitted to the Director, ZSI, Kolkata, via email on or before December 18, 2025. Hard copies of the application are not required.
