Vacancy Breakdown & Compensation

• Pay Scale: Level-10 in the Pay Matrix as per the 7th CPC .

• Job Profile: This is a permanent, General Central Service Group-“A” Gazetted position .

• Headquarters: New Delhi, with a liability to serve anywhere in India .

Age Limit

• UR candidates: Up to 35 years.

• ST candidates: Up to 40 years.

• Note: Age is further relaxable up to 10 years for PwBD candidates.

Who Can Apply?

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS Any one from A or B
A	B
(i) Master Degree in Archaeology or Master degree in Indian History (with Ancient Indian History or Medieval Indian History as a subject or paper) or Master degree in Anthropological (with stone-age Archaeology as a subject or paper) or Master degree in Geology (with Pleistocene Geology as a subject or a paper) from a recognized University or Institute.	(i) Master Degree in Archaeology or Master degree in Indian History (with Ancient Indian History or Medieval Indian History as a subject or paper) or Master degree in Anthropological (with stone-age Archaeology as a subject or paper) or Master degree in Geology (with Pleistocene Geology as a subject or a paper) from a recognized University or Institute and
(ii) Doctorate degree in Archaeology or Indian History or Anthropology or Geology from a recognized University or Institute.	(ii) Post Graduate Diploma In Archaeology with a minimum duration of one year from recognized University of Institute; and
-	(iii) Three years field experience in archaeology (Which must include experience in excavation).
NOTE I: The Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified. NOTE II: The qualification(s) regarding experience is/are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates belonging to Schedule Tribe, if at any stage of selection the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from this community possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts reserved for them.

What Will You Do?

At this post you have to assist Superintending Archaeologist in the discharge of his official duties which includes the following -

(i) Documentation of antiquities.

(ii) Village to Village Survey of antiquarian remains.

(iii) Drawing of inspection notes.

(iv) To exercise delegated financial and administrative powers.

(v) To ensure steps against encroachment, vandalism and mutilation of monuments.

(vi) Conducting exploration and excavation.

(vii) To check measure various types of conservation work.
