HARIDWAR, December 14, 2025 – The University of Patanjali (UoP) has been officially designated as a “Cluster Center” under the Gyan Bharatam Mission, which operates under the Ministry of Culture. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalizing this status was signed at a ceremony held in Haridwar.

The signing ceremony was attended by key officials, including Patanjali University’s Chancellor Yoga guru Swami Ramdev and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Acharya Balkrishna, along with Gyan Bharatam Mission’s Project Director Dr. Anirban Dash, Dr. Sridhar Barik (Coordinator, NMM), and Shri Vishwa Ranjan Malik (Coordinator, Digitization, NMM).
This designation is particularly significant as the University of Patanjali is the first yoga education-based Cluster Center—and the country's first yoga- and Ayurveda-focused university—to achieve this status. Dr. Acharya Balkrishna noted that UoP is one of eight universities among the 20 Cluster Centers established so far under the mission, which has signed a total of 33 MoUs.
As a Cluster Center, UoP will play a crucial role in advancing the preservation of Indian culture. Dr. Anirban Dash explained that the university will not only conduct advanced research on manuscripts based on Yoga and Ayurveda but will also connect this research to an educational revolution for wider dissemination across the country and society. Furthermore, UoP is now expected to mentor, train, and connect 20 other institutions to the mission, thereby strengthening collective preservation efforts.
The University of Patanjali already possesses substantial preservation expertise, having preserved more than 50,000 ancient texts, digitized 42 lakh pages, and carried out the research and republication of over 40 manuscripts. Yoga Guru Swami Ramdev expressed gratitude for the designation, recognizing the Gyan Bharatam Mission as a living example of the Honorable Prime Minister’s vision for the preservation of India’s culture-based knowledge tradition.
