About the Exam- NTA (National Testing Agency) conducts UGC-NET (National Eligibility Test) on behalf of the University Grants Commission twice a year, typically in June and December in multiple subjects, including Archaeology. NET is a computer-based test, and determines the eligibility for Assistant Professor as well as Junior Research Fellows (JRF) in Indian Universities and Colleges.
The exam has 2 papers, both consisting of MCQ questions. Paper I is of 100 marks, having 50 questions, and Paper II is of 200 marks, with 100 subject specific questions. There is no negative marking. Details can be found in the Information Bulletin; the link is provided below.

Instructions by NTA- Applications for UGC NET June 2025 is accepted only in Online mode, through the NTA website. Candidates are allowed to fill only one Application form. They should thoroughly read the Information Bulletin on the NTA website and strictly follow the instructions given. Candidates must also ensure proper email address and Mobile number is provided in the application form.
