The National Archives of India is currently inviting applications for its prestigious One Year Diploma Course in Archives and Records Management for the 2026-2027 session.
About the Program This specialized program is designed to produce highly competent professionals in the field of Archives. Candidates will receive comprehensive training in various disciplines of Archival Studies, including Records Management, Conservation, Reprography, and Information Sciences.
Course Duration:
02 November 2026 (Monday) to 28 October 2027 (Thursday).
Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Criteria)
M.A. (History): Second class with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks, including one optional paper in Modern Indian History (Post 1750 period).
OR M.A. in Social Sciences: Including Anthropology, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Linguistics, etc., with a minimum of 50% marks. Note: Archaeology subject is not mentioned in Eligibility Criteria, but if you are from Archaeology and want to apply for it can contact us to check your Eligibility.
OR M.Sc. in Applied/Physical Sciences: With a minimum of 50% marks.
Age Limit: Below 30 years for private candidates and below 50 years for sponsored candidates.
Seat Availability & Selection Process
There are a total of 30 seats available: 10 reserved for History postgraduates, 10 for other Master's streams, and 10 for sponsored candidates.
For the 20 private candidate seats, admission is purely merit-based and will be determined through a written test followed by an interview.
Sponsored candidates do not require an entrance test and will be admitted based on their employer's sponsorship and the Selection Committee's recommendation.
Scholarships & Financial Aid
10 merit-based scholarships of Rs. 3000/- per month will be awarded to private candidates.
6 stipends of Rs. 1500/- per month are available for sponsored candidates.
Fees Structure
Registration Fee: Rs. 100/- for candidates from India and SAARC countries (US$ 40 for foreign candidates).
Course Fee: A highly affordable, non-refundable fee of Rs. 1500/- for Indian and SAARC candidates (US$ 500 for foreign candidates), to be paid at the time of admission.
How to Apply
Important Deadline: The last date for receipt of applications is 14 August 2026 (Friday).
The prescribed application form can be downloaded from the National Archives of India website under the "What's New" section. or you can download that form here also.
No online application facility is available.
Applications, along with self-attested copies of educational certificates and the application fee (via crossed Indian Postal Order or Bank Draft), must be sent to the Director General of Archives, National Archives of India, Janpath, New Delhi-110001, or submitted by hand on any working day.
