Position: Junior Research Assistant

BRMA is a cultural-planning consultancy that is seeking a Gujarati speaking junior research assistant to support an ongoing project in Gujarat.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduate degree (History/ ancient Indian culture/ literature/art history/ archaeology/ museum studies - preferably courses with a focus on modern India/Gujarat). Some knowledge of History of Gujarat will be an advantage
• We are open to reviewing applications from candidates from backgrounds that are different from the ones mentioned above provided they can clearly demonstrate the skills and aptitude listed in this job description
2. One year of work experience in a related field is preferred
3. Strong English and Gujarati language skills in speaking, reading and writing
4. Demonstrable experience of undertaking research in a professional (preferred) or academic context.
SKILLS AND APTITUDE
1. Research skills – visual, content
2. Fluent in Gujarati and English. Please note: Applications from candidates who cannot read and speak Gujarati fluently will not be considered
3. Proficiency in MS Excel, Office and Google suite
4. Process oriented – survey and documentation
5. Ability to present ideas clearly, concisely and in a visual manner (using diagrams/PPT smart art/illustrations/charts/infographics etc)
WHAT WOULD A TYPICAL WORKING WEEK INVOLVE?
• Frequent interactions with subject-matter experts in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and elsewhere in Gujarat
• Reviewing, summarizing Gujarati documents into English
• Quantitative and qualitative research
• Support other BRMA team members as they develop narratives for exhibitions
• The selected candidate would be expected to coordinate with their colleagues on a day-to-day basis to work together across locations, be self-motivated and manage their time well for deliverables
Please note that the selected candidate would need to use their own laptop for work.
